Ten Random Songs...totally ripped off of Jen Lancaster's blog
Side note: Dude, seriously, May 5th, she's coming to Michigan! Who wants to come with me?!
Crazy - Aerosmith
Makes me think of:
a) Alicia Silverstone;
b) like I'm about to do a striptease while wearing a mid-90s jean jacket (in no reference to my preteen days, promise);
c) the days when I first got cable and I watched MTV like it was my job over the summer. Because, believe it or not, they played music videos for HOURS. And then I turned it off at three because there was that summer show that came on where it was a half hour of tan people and that tanned asshole talking about how warm it is in Florida. Well, it was warm in Michigan too, but I looked like a heffer and I didn't live anywhere near as cool as Florida with endless sand, walk up bars and cute guys that just wanted to grind. MTV GRIND! There we go. (No, that was not planned. I seriously figured it out just like that. Damn I'm good.)
Right Round - Flo Rida
What an abomination of a sample. I'm sure Dead or Alive is PISSED about this one. And what the fuck is this guy doing with that collar? Is he trying to be Kanye?
I Want to Save You - Something Corporate
I had just got this CD off of my (former) best friend's (ex) boyfriend because he hated it. I loved it. Still do. This is the first song. I rocked this bitch out in my CD player for years. Takes me back to 2002 before and during (former) BFF drama.
She Got a Dunk - Soulja Boy
Downloaded when Bangs used my computer for iPod purposes, this song makes it on my workout playlist. And one of the girls I coach, the shortest one of the bunch, would sing the song and do this cute little dance with it. And if you look...the girl is wearing a blue American Eagle hoodie! And I own it! So can I start wearing Fubu...do black folks even wear Fubu anymore?
Somebody to Love - Jefferson Airplane
Is there anyone out there who hears this song and doesn't think of Jim Carrey in The Cable Guy? But the video has both White Rabbit & Somebody To Love (at 3:35)...so make sure you have some LSD before watching this video and you can experience life from a psychedelic 60s point of view.
Gunpowder & Lead - Miranda Lambert
One of the few country lady singers I can stand. Last summer I went up north with three of my sorority sisters. Myself and one of them were/are not big country fans. The other two blasted Lambert and Eric Church pretty much the whole time. Miranda stuck with me. I envision myself driving with the windows open, sucking in the U.P. air and taking in the beautiful country.
Maneater - Hall & Oates
My sorority big sister's theme song. Well, the Nelly Furtado version. But this too.
Undone (The Sweater Song) - Weezer
Summer 2001. KRSS. Homemade movies. My musical tastes were beyond them.
Love the Way She Doin' It - Tone Tone
A local rapper from Detroit, I do enjoy his music. Summer 06, driving to soccer and then stopping to get a Mountain Dew slurpee on the way home.
Tha Crossroads - Bone Thugz N Harmony
Again, the summer I got cable. But this video was AWESOME. Death would just take everyone and it was scary as shit. Of course, ten year old me living in Whitey McWhiteville, I didn't understand the ghetto subtext. It just made me think of everyone who died. But it's a great song and I wanted it played at my funeral before YMCA.
Speaking of which, it's been twelve years today since my grandma died. (12/13/36-3/6/97) I watched Tha Crossroads video and cried some. It's one of those things that just sits in the back of my mind and on a day like today, Bone Thugz N Harmony...all a thug can do is cry, cry.
I am in this video at 1:32-1:35.
Priests are suggesting giving up Facebook, iPods and texting for Lent. Again, I love Jesus. But hopefully He knows how weak I am. The No Pop has weakened me as is. (Ohhhh Mountain Dew...)
Note: If you are easily offended, have a problem with salty language, are close-minded, hold personal grievances against me, or are looking for song lyric & vague emo posts, stop reading. This is not for you.
