Dad Hearts NetFlix

Last weekend my dad asked me to go over to his computer. He got something that he wants to show me. My dad is more like me than many people think. Mostly because he's been known to yell at my friends for no reason or completely ignore them. Not necessarily the friendliest of guys. I like to think of him as that grumpy old teacher you had that in September, everyone thought he was an old Scrooge, but by June, you're hugging him and having him sign your yearbook, telling you how great you are. He still has my mug I made him in the first grade, that has a picture of him I drew, drinking his Budweiser and wearing underpants around the house. (If you know me, you should definitely ask to see it because it's hilarious.) He's more involved with the community than my mom. For example, we have some random local politician's sign on our lawn. I have no idea how my dad knows him, but that's my dad. He's got a lot of friends and acquaintances that we're like "Where the hell did you meet this people?"

He's also pretty up on his technology and always asking questions about new products. He's a great consumer, always boosting the economy with buying ridiculous stuff. (He needed a GPS system, because those long 15 minute travels to and from work, he could find easier routes.) Well, he showed me this brochure he got in the mail. A very familiar red brochure about NetFlix. He's like 'This is the fourth one I've gotten and I've been looking it up. What do you know about this?" Well, I don't have it, of course, but a lot of people at work and school have it and they love it. (Office tribute to Kelly Kapoor, go to 1:07 and watch her gush about NetFlix.)

I told him to go ahead and try it. Ten days later, he is obsessed with NetFlix. He's on his fifth movie, and today we had a ten minute discussion on NetFlix today. Actually it was him gushing how great it is. "I had to move it up to TWO movies at a time! It's an extra four dollars a month but that's okay! And a new movie's coming in tomorrow!" It's nice to see my dad happy.
