Detroit is a damn good sports town. We have the Red Wings, which, if you don't like them, you are automatically considered a Communist. We have the Pistons and, even when they suck, are still better than many other basketball teams, including the Cavs. We have the Tigers, which are up and down but have a serious loyal following. And the Michigan/Michigan State rivalry will carry on for another 1000 years.
Then we have the Lions. On par to being the worst team ever to be in the NFL. 0-13. 30th overall offense, 30th rushing offense, 31st in defense and, girls because you probably didn't know, there are only 32 teams. Way to go.
We do have one bright spot. His name? Jason Hanson. Our kicker. 7-7 this season on field goals over 50 yards, with a long of 56(!!!) yards. This season, he's kicking 95%. Who does that? Especially considering how he's been in the league for 17 years. All 17 with the Lions. Does he give a shit that the team has pretty much dragged its ass for 17 years? No. He's not demanding a trade, never has, never will. He's like "Yay Lions! I get to kick!" And with that he's become the highest scoring Lion of all time. One of the highest NFL scorers of all time. Worked on Habitat For Humanity. Avid Christian. Such a badass, read on.
He was on the team with Barry Sanders (the last thing good to ever happen to the Lions) and gone through a billion quarterbacks, wide receivers, running backs. He's still here. Jason Hanson is an example of dedication and loyalty. Everyone in the league needs to look at this guy. He's having a great time playing for the shittiest team ever. Today, I salute you, #4, an inspiration to all in this league of overpriced big personalities with talents of a JV waterboy.
Note: If you are easily offended, have a problem with salty language, are close-minded, hold personal grievances against me, or are looking for song lyric & vague emo posts, stop reading. This is not for you.
